Economic Potential of Pakistan

Pakistan is currently a developing; although, it has a great economic potential. But unfortunately no keen effort has been made from past few decades, which has decelerated the growth and development of infrastructure and has discouraged industrialization which is the sole reason that most of Pakistan's economy is dependent on agriculture. But agriculture only is not dependable enough to built a strong economy; but, if modern processing and grading centers are installed through industrialization, Pakistan would then be able to export its agricultural products to other countries on a larger scale which would open a new era of economic progress in Pakistan.

Pakistan is currently suffering from electricity crises, which has been one of the most important issue for the Government to tackle but can be solved easily if Government officials pay a little attention, which is the most important factor blocking Pakistan's economy to raise upward, as mentioned in the previous article. Northern areas of Pakistan has a lot of hydro electric potential due to the natural topographical features such as large height of the mountains and fast flowing water originating from huge glaciers; but, the construction of Hydro-Electric Dams require high initial investment, which is difficult to coupe up. But if budget is organised and planned properly, and money is invested for the welfare of people instead of metros or orange trains electricity crises can be easily tackled.

The areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan has reserves of untapped metallic and non-metallic mineral resources which are not even properly exploited yet; although, the SUI GAS found in Baluchistan is supplied throughout Pakistan to generate electricity and is used in household. Baluchistan's fish industry, constituting the ports of Sunmiani, Pasni, Ormara, Gwadar and Jiwani can also help to grow Pakistan's economy if it is properly developed. Main roads and railway lines in Baluchistan are not linked to industrial areas which discourage the growth of industrialization. Agricultural areas of Baluchistan are not provided with irrigation facilities and need to be dependent on small water schemes such as Karez System. Baluchistan produces quality fruits such as pomegranate, plum, grapes and apple but due to lack of infrastructural facilities they can not be delivered nationwide and due to the absence of processing and grading factories they can not be exported abroad which discourages the growth of GDP and GNP
All these issues are grown by the time because the budget plan is not properly drawn by the Government and is not properly distributed among provinces which is the reason why Baluchistan and KPK are still lagging behind.

But Pakistan has economic potential and grow well to achieve a stable and strong economy if these factors are well considered by the government. Recently, the construction of CPEC and development of Gwadar port will open a new era of economic progress for Pakistan. But these factors need attention by the Government who should whole heatedly divide budget and plans equally among all the provinces.
